Update:

Door allerlei berichten op de web-log ben ik even van de leg. Toine als webmaster is zijn tuin (heeft hij die???) aan het verbouwen om alle visite zonnevrij te kunnen ontvangen, interim Jan S is naar de verjaardag van zijn dochter Joline, die dan weer de interim van de interim zou zijn. Dus wie dit bericht nu dadelijk of straks of ooit op de site gaat zetten: voor mij een compleet raadsel, maar ergens heb ik er vertrouwen in dat alles op zijn pootjes terecht komt. In ieder geval alle jarigen proficiat!!

De prachtige natuur in de bergen.

Deze pelgrim is helemaal in zijn nopjes nu hij net in een Spaans cafe heeft ervaren dat WIJ met 1-0 van en Servie en Montenegro (dus in 1 keer van 2 landen) hebben gewonnen. Het was nog een heel avontuur om een cafe te vinden waar Holanda rechtstreeks werd uitgezonden. Eerst was er een cafe waar voetbal op was, dus ik was blij. Bleek dat een wedstrijd te zijn van FC Ponferradina (nee, ik heb er ook nooit van gehoord, maar SchijndelZwaag, een echte kenner misschien wel). Nou, die wedstrijd werd gewonnen en nu rijden er door de stad auto´s met vlaggen en luid toeterend om dit succes te vieren. Daarna werd overgeschakeld op de tennisfinale van Roland Garros omdat daar die Nadal, en die is Spaans, in speelt. Weer pech. Op naar het volgende cafe, samen met Lucia. Daar waren twee schermen, waarvan een gelukkig voetbal had. Het doelpunt hebben we gemist, maar dankzij mijn liefhebbende echtgenote, die rondhing op een communiefeestje, werd ik op de hoogte gehouden. Naast ons kwam een Spanjaard te zitten, die met een klapperend kunstgebit commentaar leek te geven op het hele gebeuren, maar naar later bleek stekeblind te zijn en dus waarschijnlijk helemaal niet zag dat er voetbal op de tv was.

Maar goed, ik heb weer even mogen proeven aan de "echte" wereld, nu duik ik weer achter de pc om jullie de laatste ontwikkelingen te melden.

Sinds een paar dagen heb ik Lucia weer getroffen en ik denk dat we gewoon samen de tocht uitlopen. Lucia heeft last van de voeten, maar toch maakt ze elke etappe af. Die zijn op dit moment ook niet zo lang, dus kunnen we denk ik wel samen verder en dat is ook wel fijn. We merken dat we in eenzelfde fase zitten, we hebben dezelfde dingen ervaren en verder is het gewoon gezellig. We slapen samen, natuurlijk apart, maar in dezelfde refugio of albergue en dan krijg ik ´s morgens te horen dat ik verschrikkelijk snurk, maar ach....

Het steentje ligt nu op de grote stapel.

Toch even serieus, want gisteren zijn we, zonder het eigenlijk op dat moment te beseefen, allebei ontsnapt aan een grote ramp, en nu ben ik heel serieus.

Wij waren allebei op weg vanuit Rabanal naar het Cruz de Ferro op een hoogte van 1500 meter. De lucht werd donkerder, dus allebei dezelfde gedachte: er komt slecht weer na al die dagen zonneschijn. Opeens een zwaar gerommel in de verte, het duurde niet lang, maar het was wel angstaanjagend. Dat zou een flinke bui worden!! Toch klaarde alles op en de bui verdween of eigenlijk, er kwam helemaal geen bui. We konden genieten van een van de mooiste tochten uit onze pelgrimsgeschiedenis. De natuur was werkelijk overweldigend: bergen, kleuren van brem en heide, gezoem van bijen, geuren van tijm. Kortom, het was eigenlijk jammer dat de tocht ten einde was.

We kwamen in de albergue aan in El Acebo en daar hoorden we wat er eigenlijk gebeurd was: we hadden net een echte aardbeving achter de rug!!! 3,2 op de schaal van Richter werd gemeld.

Ik kan dit ook anders vertellen: hier een berichtje vanuit het ziekenhuis van Ponferrada: twee Nederlandse pelgrims zijn hedenmorgen bevrijd uit hun benarde situatie die veroorzaakt werd door een plotselinge aardbeving in de buurt van het beroemde Cruz de Ferro. De pelgrims kwamen bekneld te zitten tussen enkele rotsblokken die los kwamen door een schok met de kracht van bijna 7 op de schaal van Richter. Bij pelgrim R zijn de knie en de hiel verbrijzeld, bij pelgrima L de linker schouder en de rechtervoet. Beiden hebben echter aangegeven dat ze de tocht naar Santiago gewoon afmaken. Er is door het Jacobus-fonds een apart gironummer geopend waarop giften kunnen komen om de gedupeerde pelgrims te helpen.

Maar goed, we hebben vandaag maar een 16 kilometer gelopen, naar Ponferrada, een stad die een echt Tempelierskasteel herbergt. Ik ga dat dadelijk nog even bekijken.

In de refugio van Ponferrada slapen Lucia en ik gescheiden, want er bestaat een mannen-, een vrouwen- en een gehuwden afdeling. De receptie van de albergue dacht dat we gehuwd waren en dat zijn we ook, maar niet met elkaar, dus hebben we ook in die geest gehandeld. Dit even voor het thuisfront, die beiden ongeveer op het punt staan om naar Spanje af te reizen.

Nu in Ponferrada is het nog 200 kilometer die ik in 12 dagen ga overbruggen.

Morgen nog een vlakke etappe naar Villafranca, daarna twee lastige dagen met een flinke klim van 1000 meter en daarna uitbollen in de richting van Santiago. De laatste stop voor mij ligt op 5 kilometer van Santiago, zodat ik ´s morgens redelijk vroeg in Santiago aan kom, niet al te veel naar zweet stink en dan ook mijn Elske in mijn armen kan sluiten.

Hoewel ik duidelijk naar dat moment verlang, merk ik dat het ook weer goed met me gaat. Die rottige dagen van heimwee zijn voorbij, ik kan weer genieten van alles om me heen. Ik stoor me niet meer aan de rare rituelen van de albergues, het gesnurk, de dagelijkse nachtelijke opsta-partijen.

Nee, het maakt me niks meer uit. Die paar dagen hou ik dat best vol.

Toegift: Spaanse natuur op zijn mooist.

Toch is het raar. Op dit moment zijn er tussen de frans-spaanse grens en Santiago duizenden mensen onderweg. Al die mensen volgen eigenlijk onafhankelijk van elkaar een identiek dagritme van opstaan, aankleden, lopen, onderdak regelen, douchen, kleren wassen, rusten, pelgrims menu bestellen en dan slapen, storen aan gesnurk aan erg vroeg opstaan, maar gewoon weer meedraaien in dat carrousel. In Santiago vallen per dag een aantal mensen af omdat ze de tocht hebben volbracht, maar in Roncevalles komen er weer mensen bij die aan dit avontuur gaan beginnen. En zo gaat dat dag in dag uit, week in week uit, maand in, maand uit en dat al voor meer dan 1000 jaar!!! En het wordt steeds drukker, er komen steeds meer en betere voorzieningen, kortom, de camino is nog lang niet dood. Hij leeft! Weet Jacobus dit ook allemaal???

Hoi Ronald,over twee weekjes ben je al twee daagjes 50 jaar jong(zonder barbe lijk je trouwens wel een jaar jonger hoor!!!!!)Times flys....Maar wederom weer een spannend verhaal...Gelukkig liep het goed af...puf puf,zaten we hier anders met zijn allen te zwoten,om in deze hitte met grote collecte(n)bussen de buurt af te struinen c.q.schooien,om twee pelgrims te voorzien van enkele kunstige ledematen...gelukkig had het een happy end...
Maar Ronald de Hollandse zon kan ook errug warm zijn,vooral in het achtertuintje van onze dochter...maar het was een gezellige verjaardag.Voor de komende daagjes weer veel klim en wandel plezier...

3 Dagen ben ik in het bloedhete Luxemburg ,Diekirch, wezen lopen.
Erg gezwoten in de klim en de daalpartijen.
Nu net thuis en weet je ,gelijk naar jouw side.
Grandioos de verhalen je moet er ook echt van alles meemaken.Een aardbeving.
Ik hoop dat Toin er een boek van maakt.
In Diekirch liepen de 4000 hollanders ook veel in oranje en hoorde je de kreten vanuit de cafe,s.
Maar we gaan de dagen mee aftellen en de uitnodiging van Abraham is in vreugde ontvangen.

Je was hier al wijd en zijd bekend maar sinds gisteren ook in het Zeeuwse. Niet dat dit je doorbraak gaat betekenen, maar toch..... "Luctor et Emergo" is na ponferrada opnieuw bewezen.
